  • The way to handle cases like this is to require participants in ultra-hazardous sports to carry insurance that will cover catastrophic health care costs. In Canada, all the citizens pay for the care of those who engage in reckless activity and the entire nations pays. Hardly seems reasonable.

  • The trash isn't just near the border crossings. When I lived in San Diego some 25 years ago, I noted that as illegal Mexican immigration gathered steam, rural roads that had previously been pristine increasingly became dumping grounds for trash and discarded household items.

  • In a sense, you are right. However, it is consumer electronics---much more so than clothing---that poses a danger to workers. Chemicals used in the manufacture of electronic devices pose a huge risk to human health. I know this from first-hand experience.
